This project was started on a fifty acre farm in 2005 in Keyian Narok County. The objective for initiating tea farming was to bring lasting solutions to the inter community conflicts among the Kisii and the Maasai living along the Transmara and Kisii border. The Authority established farms along the border thus providing a source of income and employment in the area hence reducing conflict. The Authority plans to expand the production area to 625 acres, which is the threshold for establishment of a tea factory.
Project benefits: Through capacity building a total of 320 acres of tea farms have been established so far by about 100 farmers creating about 2,000 local jobs.
